Spunbond Polypropylene (PP) is lightweight, breathable, and low-linting, making it the most common choice for general laboratory use, research facilities, and controlled environments where particulate control is the primary concern.

 

SMS (Spunbond-Meltblown-Spunbond) fabric incorporates an additional meltblown filtration layer that improves protection against aerosols and liquid droplets. It is commonly used in pharmaceutical manufacturing, clinical laboratories, and higher-risk environments.

 

PE-Coated Polypropylene provides enhanced resistance to liquids and splashes, making it suitable for wet processes, chemical handling, and environments where fluid protection is required.

 

Tyvek® materials offer higher durability and improved chemical splash resistance, making them appropriate for specialized laboratory and hazardous material applications.

 

Cleanroom Compatibility

 

For most research laboratories and pharmaceutical quality control environments, standard polypropylene PPE is suitable for ISO 7–9 cleanroom classifications.

SMS (spunbond-meltblown-spunbond) fabric combines a meltblown middle layer with two spunbond outer layers, providing enhanced barrier protection against fine aerosols, liquid droplets, and fine particulates compared with single-layer polypropylene.
