Disposable laboratory shoe covers are single-use non-woven polypropylene, CPE, or SMS overshoes worn to prevent floor-borne contamination transfer into controlled laboratory, cleanroom, and pharmaceutical environments rated ISO 7 and above. Non-skid sole variants apply latex anti-skid tread for traction on smooth lab floors. Typically supplied in cases of 300 pieces (150 pairs); universal fit with elastic ankle cuffs. MBP supplies labs across the United States, Canada, and internationally with PO and Quick Order procurement at mbpinc.net.

Laboratory shoe covers are disposable protective overshoes worn over regular footwear before entering laboratories, cleanrooms, pharmaceutical facilities, healthcare environments, and other controlled spaces. Their primary purpose is to prevent dirt, dust, microorganisms, and contaminants from being transferred into sensitive work areas through shoe soles while also protecting personnel footwear from exposure to chemicals, biological materials, and floor contaminants.
Most laboratory shoe covers are manufactured from non-woven polypropylene (PP), which provides lightweight particulate protection and low lint generation. Specialized options such as SMS, PE-coated polypropylene, CPE, and Tyvek® offer additional protection against liquids, aerosols, and chemical splashes for more demanding applications.

Material
Spunbond polypropylene (28–40 gsm) is lightweight, breathable, and provides general particulate barrier for most research and pharmaceutical lab environments. PE-coated PP or CPE (chlorinated polyethylene) provides waterproof liquid resistance for wet benches, chemical spill environments, and animal facilities. SMS fabric (spunbond-meltblown-spunbond) adds aerosol and droplet barrier performance for pharmaceutical cleanrooms and clinical diagnostic labs. Tyvek shoe covers provide the highest durability and chemical splash protection for hazardous material handling.
Non-skid sole
Non-skid shoe covers feature anti-skid latex tread sprayed to the bottom sole, providing traction on smooth lab floor surfaces — polished concrete, vinyl tile, and epoxy-coated floors common in cleanrooms and pharmaceutical facilities. Non-skid covers are standard for any environment where wet floor conditions or smooth surfaces create slip risk. Plain covers are appropriate for brief-wear or dry rough-floor environments only.
ISO cleanroom rating
General-purpose PP shoe covers manufactured in ISO-accredited facilities with lot-number traceability are rated for ISO 7 (Class 10,000) environments. Critical-environment cleanroom covers with lint-free laminated fabric, bonded seams, and documented particle counts are available for ISO 5–6 (Class 100–1,000) environments. Confirm the product's documented ISO rating when sourcing for GMP-regulated or validated cleanroom environments.
Case quantity and floor stock
Standard PP shoe cover cases hold 300 pieces (150 pairs) or 600 pieces (300 pairs). Match case size to daily consumption: a 10-person lab with two cover changes per day uses approximately 20 pairs/day, or one 300-piece case per 15 working days. Bulk case ordering through MBP's Quick Order tool simplifies floor stock management and PO-based replenishment.
Latex-free elastic cuffs
Quality-tier shoe covers use latex-free elastic ankle cuffs — confirm latex-free elastic specification for environments with latex allergy protocols. All PP, CPE, and SMS upper materials are inherently latex-free.
Laboratory shoe covers are commonly manufactured from low-lint, non-woven materials that support contamination-control programs in research, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and healthcare facilities. Many cleanroom-grade products are produced in ISO-certified manufacturing environments with lot traceability for quality assurance and regulatory compliance.
