Latex examination gloves are single-use disposable hand protection items made from natural rubber latex (NRL), which is derived from the sap of the rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis). They are designed to meet ASTM D3578 standards for strength, elasticity, fit, and barrier integrity.

Compared with synthetic alternatives like nitrile, latex gloves have a lower elastic stiffness, meaning they stretch more easily and conform closely to the shape of the hand. This gives them superior tactile sensitivity, which is why they are still widely used in precision laboratory work, dental procedures, surgical environments, and fine sample manipulation tasks. Tensile strength and elongation

Latex gloves are tested under ASTM D3578, which requires high elasticity and durability.
