Individual PCR tubes are single thin-wall polypropylene reaction vessels in 0.2 mL (standard block) and 0.5 mL formats, used in end-point PCR, qPCR, and RT-PCR for flexible, low-throughput reaction setups. Attached dome caps or flat optical caps are available; tubes are independently certified DNase-free, RNase-free, and PCR inhibitor-free.
MBP Inc. supplies individual PCR tubes to research labs and academic institutions across the USA and Canada, including registered vendor access for procurement teams. Contact customerservice@mbpinc.net to request a quote today!
Individual PCR tubes are single-reaction thin-wall polypropylene vessels supplied separately rather than in strip or plate format. The 0.2 mL format is the global standard for modern thermal cyclers with conventional 96-well block geometry, while 0.5 mL tubes are used with older or specially adapted blocks. Individual tubes offer the flexibility to set up any number of reactions without being constrained to a strip of 8 or 12, making them ideal for one-off reactions, optimisation runs, and protocols requiring varied tube counts. Choose individual tubes for variable reaction counts and when colour-coding samples matters.
0.2 mL individual PCR tubes for standard thermal cyclers
Flat-cap PCR tubes for easy labelling and handling
Dome-cap PCR tubes for secure sealing performance
DNase- and RNase-free PCR tubes for clean reactions
Thin-wall PCR tubes for efficient heat transfer
Autoclavable PCR tubes for sterile workflows
Clear PCR tubes for sample visibility
Low-retention PCR tubes for sensitive assays
PCR tubes compatible with most standard cyclers
Volume: 0.2 mL vs 0.5 mL
The 0.2 mL tube fits virtually all modern thermal cycler blocks, including Bio-Rad T100, Eppendorf Mastercycler NEO, and Applied Biosystems Veriti. The 0.5 mL tube is used with specific gradient blocks or older instruments; confirm block compatibility before ordering this format.
Attached Cap vs No Cap
Tubes with attached dome caps offer convenience and prevent cap mix-ups during high-volume workflows. Tubes with flat attached caps or sold without caps (requiring separate cap purchase) are chosen when flat optical caps or coloured caps are needed for tube tracking.
Colour Options
Coloured individual tubes (clear, white, yellow, red, blue, green) allow colour-based sample tracking without labelling, particularly useful in high-throughput genotyping or multiplex PCR workflows where visual differentiation reduces setup errors.
Polypropylene Grade
Individual tubes should be moulded from virgin polypropylene free of additives, antistatic agents, and dyes that can inhibit PCR enzyme activity. White tubes (for qPCR with fluorescence read from the bottom) must use a white polypropylene body that maximises signal reflection.
Standard 0.2 mL individual PCR tubes have a wall thickness of approximately 0.25–0.35 mm, a conical base for complete reaction volume recovery, and are supplied in bags of 1,000 tubes for bench use. Certification includes DNase-free, RNase-free, human DNA-free, and PCR inhibitor-free per independent lot testing. Globe Scientific and Nest Scientific supply individual PCR tubes widely stocked at MBP Inc.
