The Wheel & Axle by United Scientific is a classic simple machines device for demonstrating mechanical advantage and the conservation of energy. It has a single stepped wheel with four coaxial steps of 35, 50, 65 and 105 mm diameter, supported on a steel rod by a ball bearing. Physics teachers use it to compare diameter ratios, torque and work input versus output.
