A motorised rotating wheel or roller generates controlled airflow to aspirate and dispense liquid at variable speeds; a hydrophobic 0.2 &micro;m inline filter prevents liquid and aerosol from reaching the motor. Controllers accept all standard serological pipette diameters (1 mL to 100 mL) through a silicone or rubber cone adapter. They are the standard dispensing tool for media preparation, cell culture reagent transfer, serial dilutions in large volumes, and reagent bottle-to-flask transfers. Most controllers use a silicone or rubber cone that accommodates 1&ndash;100 mL serological pipettes from Falcon, Globe Scientific, and Nest Scientific without adapters. Autoclavability Controllers intended for BSC and sterile cell culture use should have an autoclavable cone, nose piece, and filter assembly.
