The Sodium Chloride Crystal Model by United Scientific is a ball-and-spoke model of the NaCl unit cell, permanently mounted on a clear square acrylic base. Its 27 balls, each 22 mm in diameter, show the two interpenetrating face-centered cubic lattices of sodium and chloride ions in a 14 cm cube. Chemistry teachers use it to explain ionic bonding and crystal lattices.
