Orbital Shaker Accessories

What are orbital shaker accessories?

Orbital shaker accessories are the platform attachments and holders that secure specific vessel types to a shaker platform during operation. Erlenmeyer flasks typically require spring-clip clamps that hold the flask securely while allowing unrestricted liquid movement, microplates use dedicated plate holders, tube rack inserts accommodate centrifuge and microcentrifuge tubes, and non-slip mats provide flexible placement for vessels during lower-speed mixing applications.

What you will find:

Dedicated Flask Platforms: Pre-configured platforms designed to securely hold specific sizes of Erlenmeyer flasks or standard microplates.

Universal Magnetic Platforms: Versatile, metallic base platforms engineered for instant, tool-free swapping of magnetic clamps and tube racks.

Magnetic Flask Clamps: Single-size and combo magnetic clamps designed for quick attachment to hold 25ml up to 500ml Erlenmeyer flasks.

Magnetic Tube Racks: Specially designed magnetic racks to accommodate culture tubes, microplates, and large conical bottles in various orientations.

How to choose orbital shaker accessories

Select Erlenmeyer flask clamps by flask volume
Flask clamps are designed for specific flask sizes, including 125 mL, 250 mL, 500 mL, 1 L, and larger culture flasks. Each clamp is engineered to fit the dimensions of a particular flask size, ensuring secure retention during shaking.
Confirm compatibility with your shaker platform
Accessory mounting systems vary between manufacturers and shaker models. Before ordering, verify that the clamp, holder, or rack is listed as compatible with the specific orbital shaker platform being used.
Choose a microplate holder suitable for your application
Microplate holders secure standard microplates during incubation and mixing procedures. Different holder designs support different operating speeds and plate formats, making compatibility and intended use important selection criteria.
Use a non-slip platform mat for flexible vessel placement
Non-slip mats provide a simple solution for holding bottles, flasks, trays, and other containers at low to moderate shaking speeds. They are useful when vessel configurations change frequently and dedicated clamps are not required.
Verify tube rack capacity and platform fit
Tube rack inserts are available for common laboratory tube formats, including microcentrifuge tubes and conical centrifuge tubes. Confirm that the rack dimensions fit within the shaker platform and that the rack accommodates the desired number of samples per run.

Specifications context

Orbital shaker accessories are designed to keep vessels securely positioned while exposed to continuous circular motion. Flask clamps, plate holders, and tube racks should be selected according to vessel dimensions, operating speed, and platform compatibility. Stainless steel spring-clip clamps remain one of the most widely used accessory formats for laboratory culture applications due to their durability and secure retention.
