Open bath heaters (sometimes called circulating water baths) are the most common format for biological and enzymatic work up to 100 degrees C. They allow direct tube or flask immersion and are easy to clean. Closed-system heaters use a smaller reservoir, a stronger pump, and a powerful heating element to push heated fluid externally, preferred for jacketed vessels, columns, or high-temperature applications.
