 A single-channel pipettor is the single most widely used liquid handling instrument in molecular biology, cell biology, and clinical research. It transfers precise volumes between 0.1 &micro;L and 5,000 &micro;L, one well or tube at a time, using an air-displacement piston mechanism. The piston creates a partial vacuum that aspirates liquid into a disposable tip; advancing the piston fully dispenses the liquid. A spring-loaded tip ejector releases the used tip without hand contact for contamination control.
