Oil Testing Centrifuge Accessories

What Are Oil Testing Centrifuge Accessories?

Oil testing centrifuge accessories are the consumable and hardware components required to perform ASTM-compliant petroleum centrifuge tests. These include ASTM-calibrated borosilicate glass centrifuge tubes, tube cushions, rotor assemblies for different tube formats, replacement stoppers, and temperature-verification tools for heated chamber calibration. Since ASTM methods specify the exact tube format to be used, selecting the correct accessories is essential for maintaining test accuracy, compliance, and reliable BS&W measurements.

What You Will Find

Spare Round Buckets: Replacement buckets for oil testing centrifuge systems

Adapters for Pear-Shaped Tubes: Ensure secure placement during petroleum testing procedures

Adapters for Conical Tubes: Support different ASTM sample tube configurations

Pear-Shaped Oil Test Tubes: Designed for standard fuel oil and crude oil analysis methods

Conical Oil Test Tubes: Suitable for multiple petroleum testing applications

Spare Bucket Inserts: Maintain proper tube alignment and stability during centrifugation

How to Choose Oil Testing Centrifuge Accessories

ASTM Tube Type Selection
Begin by identifying the ASTM method being performed. Pear-shaped and cone-style 100 mL tubes are commonly used for D96, D1796, and D4007 methods, while finger or capillary tubes support D2273 and D2709 procedures. Using the correct tube format is essential for obtaining compliant and reproducible results.
Tube Cushion Matching
Each tube style requires a matching cushion or insert that supports the glass body during centrifugation. Properly fitted cushions minimize vibration, reduce breakage risk, and maintain accurate positioning within the rotor assembly.
Rotor Assembly Selection
Many oil testing centrifuges support interchangeable rotor assemblies for different ASTM methods. Verify that the selected rotor is compatible with both the centrifuge model and the required tube format to ensure the correct operating conditions and centrifugal force.
Replacement Stoppers
Rubber and silicone stoppers experience wear from repeated exposure to solvents and elevated temperatures. Inspect stoppers regularly and replace them if cracking, swelling, or poor sealing performance is observed to maintain safe and reliable operation.
Temperature Verification Equipment
Heated petroleum centrifuges require periodic temperature verification to maintain ASTM compliance. Calibrated thermometers or thermocouple systems help confirm that operating temperatures remain within acceptable tolerances during routine testing procedures.

Specifications Context

ASTM-compliant petroleum centrifuge tubes are manufactured from borosilicate glass and must meet strict dimensional and graduation requirements. Proper tube selection, matched cushions, and compatible rotor assemblies all contribute to accurate BS&W measurements and reliable laboratory performance.
Modern petroleum testing laboratories increasingly rely on durable etched graduations, improved sealing materials, and enhanced temperature-monitoring accessories to support long-term compliance with ASTM and industry testing standards.
