Universal Centrifuge Accessories

What Are Universal Centrifuge Accessories?

Universal centrifuge accessories are the interchangeable components that determine the range of applications a universal centrifuge can perform. These include swing-out rotor buckets for blood tubes, conical tubes, microplates, and large bottles; fixed-angle rotors for high-speed pelleting; hematocrit and cytospin rotors; tube adapters; and aerosol-tight bio-containment lids. Selecting the appropriate accessories allows a single centrifuge to support multiple laboratory workflows efficiently and safely.

How to Choose Universal Centrifuge Accessories

Swing-Out Bucket Selection by Application
Choose swing-out buckets according to the sample formats used in your laboratory. Blood tube buckets support routine clinical applications, conical tube buckets are suitable for cell culture and molecular biology, microplate carriers enable high-throughput workflows, and large-bottle carriers accommodate large-volume sample processing.
Fixed-Angle Rotors
Fixed-angle rotors provide higher centrifugal forces for microtube, PCR tube, and small-volume sample processing. Ensure that both the rotor and centrifuge motor specifications support the required operating speeds and sample formats.
Cytospin Clip Rotors
Cytospin rotors are designed for preparing microscope slides from low-cellularity samples such as body fluids. Verify compatibility with the required funnel sizes and use bio-containment features when processing potentially infectious materials.
Bio-Containment Lids
Aerosol-tight lids help contain biological samples during centrifugation and support safe laboratory practices. Regular inspection of sealing components and O-rings ensures reliable containment and long-term performance.
Reducing Adapter Inserts
Adapter inserts allow smaller tubes to fit securely within larger bucket positions. Using properly matched adapters improves balance, prevents movement during operation, and helps maintain consistent centrifugation results.

Specifications Context

Modern universal centrifuge systems support interchangeable accessory configurations that enable rapid transitions between clinical, research, cell culture, and cytology workflows. Swing-out buckets, fixed-angle rotors, and microplate carriers provide flexibility while maintaining compatibility with a broad range of vessel formats.
Routine inspection and maintenance of accessories, including adapters, lids, and sealing components, help ensure safe operation and extend equipment lifespan. Advances in bio-containment systems and modular rotor designs continue to improve laboratory efficiency and versatility.
