Laboratory storage bottles are precision-molded plastic vessels used to store, transport, and dispense liquid and solid reagents, solvents, buffers, and samples across a wide range of laboratory workflows. Globe Scientific's Diamond RealSeal bottle range includes wash mouth bottles, wide mouth bottles, and narrow mouth bottles. Wash mouth bottles are flexible LDPE squeeze bottles available in 250–1000 mL sizes for glassware rinsing and solvent dispensing. Wide mouth bottles, available in HDPE and PP from 30 mL to 2 L, are designed for powders, viscous liquids, and bulk sample storage. Narrow mouth bottles, including Boston round styles in HDPE, LDPE, and PP, range from 4 mL to 8 L and are used for liquid reagents, sampling, and chemical storage. All Diamond RealSeal bottles are manufactured from virgin FDA 21 CFR-compliant resins and feature PP integral-seal closures that provide leak-proof performance without separate liners or gaskets. LDPE is best suited for squeeze-action wash bottles, HDPE is the standard choice for general liquid storage, and PP should be selected whenever autoclave sterilization is required.

Mouth Size: Wash, Wide, or Narrow
Wash mouth bottles feature integrated dispensing nozzles or draw tubes that allow controlled squeeze-action delivery and are primarily used for rinsing and dispensing liquids rather than long-term storage. Wide mouth bottles, with openings typically greater than 38 mm, allow easy filling and dispensing of powders, granules, viscous liquids, and larger samples. Narrow mouth bottles, including Boston round designs, provide controlled pouring, reduced evaporation, and secure storage for liquid reagents and solvents.
Material Match
LDPE is the preferred material for wash bottles because of its flexibility and squeeze performance. HDPE provides broad chemical resistance, low leachables, and a temperature range suitable for most laboratory chemicals and reagents, making it the standard choice for general storage. PP is selected when bottles must withstand autoclave sterilization at 121°C or be used for media preparation and sterile workflows. Amber HDPE and amber PP bottles are recommended for light-sensitive compounds that require protection from UV and visible light exposure.
Volume
Small bottles ranging from 4–30 mL are commonly used for reference standards, analytical reagents, and sample collection. Mid-range bottles from 60–500 mL are suitable for daily-use reagents, calibration standards, and working solutions. Larger bottles from 1–8 L are typically used for bulk reagent storage, media preparation, and buffer stock solutions.
Closure Type
Diamond RealSeal PP closures incorporate an integral seal ring that creates a leak-proof closure without requiring separate liners or gaskets. Standard PP screw caps are used throughout the Diamond Essentials economy line. For autoclavable PP bottles, caps should be loosened during sterilization and tightened after cooling to maintain proper sealing performance.
