What Are 96 Well Plates?

The 96 well plates or the microtiter plates come in rectangular shapes and are used in a lot of different assays. Some of the most prominent ones are ELISA and PCR. These plates come with multiple rows and they are labeled with different numbers and letter combinations, along with a notch in the upper corners that is responsible for the plate’s correct orientation.

The 96 well plates aren’t re-usable. This is because mostly, the chemicals used in the experiments cannot be cleaned out, hence the plates are disposable. These plates should be thrown away once the assay is done.

The 384 Well Plates

When you need to run tests on 40 microlitres instead of the 150 microlitres, 384 well plates can be very useful. The most important benefit of having these plates is that you save reagents.
Reagents are expensive, especially the ones used in molecular biology and biochemistry experiments.  As a result, the cost of each analysis will be brought down.
